Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, on January 12th the executive committee sadly made the decision to cancel the Tokamachi Snow Festival. This was not a decision made lightly and we apologize for any inconvenience it has caused, but we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

1. Reasoning

While we were going full-steam ahead with our preparations, the highly contagious and quickly-spreading nature of the recent Omicron strain has stopped us from moving forward.

2. Other notes

This marks the second time in a row the Tokamachi Snow Festival has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s 72nd Snow Festival was also cancelled.
This time we really were hunting for safe ways to possibly hold the festival until the very last minute, hence why this decision was made after the new year.
