Main Area
The grand attraction of the 71st Tokamachi Snow Festival, the Main Area, can be found in the Echigo-Tsumari Museum of Contemporary Art Kinare and Michi no Eki Crossten areas!
Even without much snow, the goal of the Tokamachi Snow Festival is to have fun! If you don’t know where to start, come visit the Main Area!

Community Hiroba – a big hit each year
This Hiroba can be found in the west parking lot of Kinare. Lively food stands and other booths will be all over the Winter Market, and there will also be a Tea Ceremony.

Come witness a traditional Japanese tea ceremony! You can also drink some of the freshly made tea.

◆Opening Festival 2020
The Opening Festival 2020 will feature many different acts: hip-hop dancing from DSS Hiphop Dance School, a GORGEOUS kimono show from Mayu no Kai (a local kimono group), and an adorable dance put on by students from the Tenshi and Atago Kindergartens.
Comedians Jimmy Onishi and PISTACHIO will also be putting on shows. Let’s get this snow festival started with this awesome stage!

◆13th Gosetsu (Heavy Snow) JAM
This high power music festival was started not for the purpose of holding a music festival, but to invite people from all over to their hometown of Tokamachi and spread the love and appreciation of the city and Niigata prefecture itself to the entire country.

◆Snow Festival Special Jazz Night featuring the Ayumi Koketsu Quartet
This specially-formed quartet is led by Ayumi Koketsu, an ace in the jazz world.
This live show is sure to delight hardcore jazz fans and casual listeners alike. Please enjoy the snow festival even more with this powerful sound!

Artists from the Echigo-Tsumari Art Festival will be participating in the Tokamachi Snow Festival!
◆Michiyoshi Isozaki – Makio the Giant and the Snow Walk
This gigantic balloon named Makio will make an appearance at the Tokamachi Snow Festival! He will go for light walks, shoot out letter parachutes and connect complete strangers.

◆Ondekoza – Performance from a Wadaiko Group
This popular Japanese drum group has participated in the Echigo Tsumari Art Field since 2012 and will put on a wild show for the Tokamachi Snow Festival!
